Tot dies week after she crawled through pet door, fell into pool

An 11-month-old Katy girl has died, a week after crawling through a pet door and falling into a swimming pool at her family's home, authorities said.

Girl was pronounced dead at 8:40 p.m. Wednesday at Memorial Hermann Children's Hospital, the Harris County Medical Examiner's Office said.

She fell into her family's swimming pool in the 10000 block of Park Bud on July 6. She was at home with her mother and her great-grandparents when it is believed she crawled through a dog door in the living room, Harris County sheriff's detectives said. When family members discovered the child was missing, they ran outside and found her floating at the edge of the pool, detectives said.

Hannah's death marks the 15th drowning in the Houston area this year. At least 42 children across the state have died in drowning accidents this year.
