4-year-old drowns in swimming pool

A 4-year-old boy drowned Sunday after crawling through a doggie door and making his way to a swimming pool, Hillsborough County Sherff's deputies say.

The little boy and his mother, Bethanie, were visiting friends at 2506 Chapel Way in north Tampa. Deputies say the boy was away from his mother only five minutes.

Emergency officials went to the home at 6:20 p.m. and took the child to University Community Hospital in Carrollwood, where he was pronounced dead.
